Abstract:
(EN) Compact and power efficient acoustically actuated magnetoelectric antennas for transmitting and receiving very low frequency (VLF) electromagnetic waves utilize magnetoelectric coupling in a magnetic/piezoelectric heterostructure to provide voltage control of magnetization in transmission mode and magnetic control of electric polarization in receiving mode. The magnetoelectric antennas provide a power efficiency enhanced by orders of magnitude compared to magnetically or mechanically switching the magnetization. The antennas can be used in groups or arrays and can be combined to form VLF communication systems.
(FR) La présente invention concerne des antennes magnétoélectriques compactes, économes en énergie et à actionnement acoustique destinées à émettre et à recevoir des ondes électromagnétiques à très basse fréquence (VLF pour Very Low Fréquence) qui utilisent un couplage magnétoélectrique dans une hétérostructure magnétique/piézoélectrique pour fournir une commande de tension de magnétisation en mode transmission et une commande magnétique de polarisation électrique en mode réception. Les antennes magnétoélectriques fournissent un rendement énergétique amélioré par des ordres de grandeur par rapport à une commutation magnétique ou mécanique de la magnétisation. Les antennes peuvent être utilisées dans des groupes ou des réseaux et peuvent être combinées pour former des systèmes de communication à très basse fréquence.
