(EN) Methods and compositions of retaining nutrients in soil at planting sites is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the composition includes at least one modified amino acid. The at least one modified amino acid is modified by at least one of protonation, ammonia modification, or guanidine modification. In some embodiments, the composition further includes at least on unmodified amino acid.
