A medical device control unit acquires a plurality of OCT signals at different times that are detected by means of reflected light from measuring light irradiated toward a measurement site of living tissue (S3). The control unit calculates a time rate of change of the length of a local optical path of the measuring light by way of processing the plurality of OCT signals (S4 - S6). On the basis of the time rate of change of the length of the local optical path, the control unit calculates the cumulative amount of deformation that is the amount of deformation (>= 0) in the living tissue at the measurement site that has accumulated in the time direction (S7 - S9). As a result, changes in the living tissue caused by irradiation with therapeutic light are measured.
