Abstract:
(EN) The rotary steerable drilling tool and system described herein combines both point- the-bit and push-the-bit techniques to actively change the direction of the borehole trajectory. In this system, the deflection of the drill bit is limited to a single degree of freedom relative to a coordinate system that is fixed to and rotates with the rotary steerable drilling tool, resulting in a simplified attachment of the bit assembly and bias unit mechanics. Further, steering of the well is accomplished by dynamically controlling the spatial phase and amplitude of the coherent symmetrical bidirectional reciprocating deflections of the drill bit relative to a fixed terrestrial datum as the tool is rotating, simultaneously pointing and pushing the bit. Alternatively, when not being used to change the direction of the borehole trajectory, the rotary steerable drilling tool apparatus can be used to mitigate or abate the stick-slip tendencies of the drill string by dithering the bit using spatially variable asynchronous symmetrical bidirectional reciprocating deflections of the drill bit at frequencies that are different from the rotational frequency of the bottom hole assembly. When neither steering nor stick-slip abatement is active, the bit can be mechanically locked into the neutral position.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un outil et un système de forage orientable rotatif combinant les techniques à la fois de pointage de trépan (« point-the-bit ») et de poussée de trépan (« push-the-bit ») en vue de modifier activement la direction de la trajectoire de puits de forage. Dans ledit système, la déviation du trépan est limitée à un seul degré de liberté par rapport à un système de coordonnées qui est fixé à l'outil de forage rotatif orientable et qui tourne avec celui-ci, ce qui permet d'obtenir une fixation simplifiée de l'ensemble trépan et du mécanisme d'unité de sollicitation. En outre, l'orientation du puits est mise en œuvre par commande dynamique de la phase et de l'amplitude spatiales des déviations alternatives bidirectionnelles symétriques cohérentes du trépan par rapport à un repère terrestre fixe lorsque l'outil tourne, pointant et poussant simultanément le trépan. Selon une variante, lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé pour modifier la direction de la trajectoire de puits de forage, il est possible d'utiliser l'appareil d'outil de forage orientable rotatif pour atténuer ou réduire les tendances de glissement saccadé du train de tiges par un mouvement de va-et-vient rapide du trépan à l'aide de déviations alternatives bidirectionnelles symétriques asynchrones spatialement variables du trépan à des fréquences qui sont différentes de la fréquence de rotation de l'ensemble de fond de trou. Lorsque ni l'orientation ni la réduction de glissement saccadé n'est active, le trépan peut être bloqué mécaniquement en position neutre.
