Provided is a development cartridge that can stop the rotation of a protrusion by means of a configuration that does not stop the rotation of the protrusion by disengaging a gear and a drive gear. A development cartridge 1 that comprises a case 3, a development roller 2, a shaft 11, a cylindrical member 14, an elastic member 16, and a gear 13. The case 3 can house a developer. The shaft 11 extends in the axial direction. The cylindrical member 14 has a protrusion 21 and can rotate about the shaft 11. In addition, the cylindrical member 14 can move from a first position to a second position. The elastic member 16 is positioned between the cylindrical member 14 and an outer surface 3A of the case 3. The gear 13 can rotate about the shaft 11 from a first rotational position to a second rotational position. When the gear 13 is in the first rotational position, the gear 13 engages the cylindrical member 14, and the cylindrical member 14, in the first position, can rotate with the gear 13. When the gear 13 is in the second rotational position, the cylindrical member 14 is moved from the first position to the second position by the elastic member 16, and, as a result, the gear 13 disengages the cylindrical member 14, and the cylindrical member 14, in the second position, stops rotating.
