Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for improving the electrical conductivity of submarine cables for power transmission in the area of hotspots of the submarine cables, in particular in the area of cable lead-ins at offshore structures, wherein the method comprises limiting the maximum surface temperature of one or more conductors of the submarine cable by connecting a heat sink in the area of a hotspot or by actively or passively cooling a hotspot or by increasing the conducting cross section in a specific portion in the area of a hotspot or by increasing the conductance of at least one conductor in a specific region in the area of a hotspot. The invention also relates to a cable lead-in of an offshore structure comprising at least one submarine cable into the offshore structure, a cable lead-through into the structure and a device for protecting the submarine cable from external mechanical effects, with means for limiting the maximum surface temperature of one or more conductors of the submarine cable.
