Title: VORTEX MIXING METHOD FOR SMELTING REDUCTION OF IRON
Abstract:
A vortex mixing method for smelting reduction of iron. The method comprises the following steps: (1) placing pig iron in an induction furnace, heating till melting to form molten iron, and ensuring that the temperature of the molten iron is at least 1450℃; (2) performing mixing at the center of the molten iron to form a vortex with a height-to-diameter ratio of 0.5 to 0.25, and continuing the mixing process; (3) mixing and grinding an iron mineral, reducing agent, and slagging agent according to a mass fraction ratio of 1:(0.1-0.15):(0.25-0.4), spraying the mixture into the center of the vortex to initiate a reduction reaction, stopping the mixing process after obtaining molten iron and slag, and simultaneously generating a flue gas; and (4) discharging the molten iron and slag by layer, and emitting the flue gas after treatment. The method achieves at least a 95.5% reduction rate of the iron mineral. The mass fraction of iron within the slag is at most 0.35%.
