Abstract:
(EN) A polyisoolefin-based polymer composition having a multimodal molecular weight distribution is described, which can be prepared by the late addition of a chain transfer agent to the polymerization process. The polymer composition has a low molecular weight fraction having a peak molecular weight (Mp) of less than about 100,000 g/mol and a high molecular weight fraction having a peak molecular weight (Mp) of greater than about 250,000 g/mol, the low molecular weight fraction present in the composition in an amount less than the high molecular weight fraction. Cured articles produced from the polyisoolefin-based polymer composition exhibit improved processability while maintaining physical properties.
(FR) L'invention concerne une composition de polymère à base de polyisooléfine présentant une répartition de masse moléculaire multimodale, qui peut être préparée par l'addition retardée d'un agent de transfert de chaîne au processus de polymérisation. La composition de polymère possède une fraction de faible masse moléculaire présentant une masse moléculaire de pic (Mp) inférieure à environ 100 000 g/mol et une fraction de masse moléculaire élevée présentant une masse moléculaire de pic (Mp) supérieure à environ 250 000 g/mol, la fraction de faible masse moléculaire étant présente dans la composition en une quantité inférieure à la fraction de masse moléculaire élevée. Des articles durcis produits à partir de la composition de polymère à base de polyisooléfine présentent une aptitude au traitement améliorée tout en conservant leurs propriétés physiques.
