Abstract:
Provided is a bent optical fiber manufacturing method that is capable of effectively reducing variation in quality of bent optical fibers to be manufactured without lowering the manufacturing yield. According to one embodiment of the present invention, an elastic bending step for forming a bent part in one portion of an optical fiber by rotating a movement limiting member while feeding the optical fiber toward the rotary shaft, the leading end of the optical fiber being held by the movement limiting member that is rotatable about a rotary shaft, and a heating step for releasing stress from the bent part by applying a laser beam, are alternately repeated. Thus, a plurality of bent parts from which stress is released along the longitudinal direction are formed in the optical fiber.
