Abstract:
[Problem] The present invention addresses the problem of providing a guide wire whereby rotation performance of the guide wire (operability of the guide wire) is enhanced while insertability of the guide wire is maintained, and the risk of peeling (stripping) of a resin layer from a distal end is also reduced. [Solution] In a guide wire 1, a resin layer 40 covers the external periphery of a coil body 30 and has a rear-end part 42 having a large outside diameter D1, has a distal-end part 46 having a smaller outside diameter D2 than the rear-end part 42, the distal-end part 46 being positioned between a core shaft 10 and the coil body 30 and closer to a distal end than the rear-end part 42, and has a tapered part 44 in which the outside diameter thereof decreases from D1 to D2 progressively toward the distal end between the rear-end part 42 and the distal-end part 46, and the coil body 30 in the distal-end part 46 is not covered by the resin layer 40 and is exposed. Through this configuration, it is possible to enhance the rotation performance of the guide wire 1 (operability of the guide wire 1) while maintaining insertability of the guide wire 1, and to reduce the risk of peeling (stripping) of the resin layer 40 from a distal end 47 thereof.
