Abstract:
A flow sensor (10) for pulmonary function testing able to prevent cross-infection has a hollow tubular structure, and comprises a main venting tube and pressure tapping holes (21, 31, 41) disposed on a tube wall of the main venting tube. An outer wall of the main venting tube is provided with pressure tapping stubs (5, 6, 7) in air communication with the pressure tapping holes (21, 31, 41). The volumes of the inner cavities of the pressure tapping stubs (5, 6, 7) satisfy the following condition: during the pulmonary function testing, the air exhaled or inhaled by a tester enters the pressure tapping stubs (5, 6, 7) through the pressure tapping holes (21, 31, 41) and is kept within the pressure tapping stubs (5, 6, 7) without contacting connection lines outside of the flow sensor (10). The flow sensor (10) can isolate contaminants such as bacteria or virus and prevent the same from entering other connection lines or cavities of the spirometer, thereby preventing cross-infection during pulmonary function testing.
