Abstract:
(EN) A method to alter the brain tumor microenvironment from a state that supports tumor growth to a state that is tumor destructive by inducing innate type 1 immune mechanisms generally throughout central nervous system tissues that result in the acquisition of tumor destructive properties by astrocytic tumor cells and tumor associated macrophages; and comprising phenotypic and functional transformation of the tumor cells including the expression of inducible nitric oxide and the production of cytotoxic free radicals and a change in the phenotypic and functional characteristics of tumor associated macrophages from tumor-promoting anti-inflammatory M2 to inflammatory, tumor-destructive M1 macrophages.
(FR) Cette invention concerne un procédé de modification du microenvironnement d'une tumeur cérébrale pour le faire passer d'un état qui supporte la croissance tumorale à un état destructeur de tumeur par induction de mécanismes immunitaires innés de type 1 généralement dans tous les tissus du système nerveux central qui conduisent à conférer des propriétés destructrices de tumeur à des astrocytes tumoraux et autres macrophages associés aux tumeurs ; et comprenant la transformation phénotypique et fonctionnelle des cellules tumorales, y compris l'expression d'oxyde nitrique inductible et la production de radicaux libres cytotoxiques et la modification des caractéristiques phénotypiques et fonctionnelles des macrophages associés à la tumeur pour les faire passer de macrophages M2 anti-inflammatoires, stimulant la croissance de la tumeur à macrophages M1 inflammatoires, destructeurs de tumeur.
