The invention relates to the field of measurement technology and can be used to determine the friction parameters of the surface of runways of airfields or of road surfaces. A method and device are characterized in that an assembly for generating braking torque is designed in the form of an induction electromagnetic brake, the stator of which is mounted on a frame, and a measuring wheel is mounted on a rotor shaft. A sensor for sensing traction between the measuring wheel and the surface under examination is designed in the form of an analog Hall sensor mounted on the stator of the induction electromagnetic brake, between the stator poles. The accuracy of determining the coefficient of traction is increased, the design is simplified, and the dimensions and mass of the device are reduced.
