Abstract:
(EN) A method of forming a titania-coated inorganic particle comprising the steps of (a) stirring a mixture of a titania precursor such as a titanium alkoxide and an inorganic particle such as a hollow glass particles in an organic solvent such as an alcohol for more than 1 h to cause adsorption of the titania precursor on the surface of the inorganic particle; and (b) adding water dropwise to the mixture under stirring to convert the titania precursor to titania which then forms a coating on the inorganic particle. A method for forming a paint formulation, a titania-coated inorganic particle, a paint formulation comprising a titania-coated inorganic particle and use of a titania-coated inorganic particle in a paint formulation is also described.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de formation d'une particule inorganique revêtue de dioxyde de titane comprenant les étapes consistant à (a) agiter un mélange d'un précurseur de dioxyde de titane tel qu'un alcoxyde de titane et d'une particule inorganique telle qu'une particule de verre creuse dans un solvant organique tel qu'un alcool pendant plus de 1 h pour provoquer l'adsorption du précurseur de dioxyde de titane sur la surface de la particule inorganique ; et (b) ajouter de l'eau goutte à goutte au mélange sous agitation pour convertir le précurseur de dioxyde de titane en dioxyde de titane qui forme ensuite un revêtement sur la particule inorganique. L'invention concerne également un procédé de formation d'une formulation de peinture, une particule inorganique revêtue de dioxyde de titane, une formulation de peinture comprenant une particule inorganique revêtue de dioxyde de titane et l'utilisation d'une particule inorganique revêtue de titane dans une formulation de peinture.
