Abstract:
In order to obtain image information about gradation expression ability (i.e., dynamic range) that exceeds the bit resolution of an installed A/D converter in an imaging device that captures images of image data, this solid-state imaging element comprises a pixel array unit and a statistical processing unit. In the pixel array unit in this solid-state imaging element, a plurality of pixels that each generate a pixel signal are arranged in a two-dimensional lattice shape. In this solid-state imaging element, the statistical processing unit obtains, as a signal value for each of the plurality of pixels, a statistical amount indicating the degree of variation in the pixel signal for each of the plurality of pixels within the pixel array unit.
