An inverter (40) converts a DC voltage from a DC power supply (12) to an AC voltage applied to a motor (15) in which no positional sensor is disposed. A current detection unit (50) detects motor currents (Iu, Iv, Iw) flowing through the motor (15). A control unit (100) generates control signals (S1-S6) for controlling, on the basis of a DC voltage (Vdc) input to the inverter (40) and the detected values of the motor currents (Iu, Iv, Iw), the turning-on/off of a plurality of semiconductor switching elements (Q1-Q6) constituting the inverter (40). The control unit (100) controls the inverter (40) during the feedback-control of the motor currents so that there is a timing at which the motor currents decrease during an operation for raising the rotational speed of the motor (15).
