A trans-anal irrigation (TAI) device has a pump base unit, an irrigation fluid reservoir, a wireless electronic controller, fluid tubing, and a disposable rectal catheter in fluid communication with the tubing. The rectal catheter has a retention balloon and a waste control valve. The fluid tubing contains two or three separate lumens for irrigation fluid and retention balloon inflation/deflation and optionally for waste control valve actuation. None of the lumens ever communicates with any other lumen. A hydraulic control circuit has a pump that pumps in one direction only but, with suitable control valves, is able to pump water to and from the retention balloon and to and from an optional waste control valve. A water temperature sensor is mounted in the pump base unit at a thin-wall section. The temperature sensor sends a signal to a controller which provides an indication of whether the water temperature is suitable for use.

Un dispositif d'irrigation trans-anale (TAI) comprend une unité de base de pompe, un réservoir de fluide d'irrigation, un contrôleur électronique sans fil, un tube de fluide et un cathéter rectal jetable en communication fluidique avec le tube. Le cathéter rectal comporte un ballon de rétention et une soupape de réglage des déchets. Le tube de fluide contient deux ou trois lumières séparées pour le fluide d'irrigation et le gonflage/dégonflage du ballon de rétention et éventuellement pour l'actionnement des soupapes de réglage des déchets. Aucune des lumières ne communique avec n'importe quelle autre lumière. Un circuit de commande hydraulique comporte une pompe qui pompe dans un seul sens mais qui, avec des soupapes de réglage appropriées, est capable de pomper l'eau vers et à partir du ballon de rétention et vers et à partir d'une soupape de réglage des déchets facultative. Un capteur de température d'eau est monté dans l'unité de base de pompe au niveau d'une section à paroi mince. Le capteur de température envoie un signal à un contrôleur qui indique si la température de l'eau est appropriée pour être utilisée.
