Abstract

A furnace isolation chamber for containing a component to be Hot Isostatically Pressed is disclosed. The disclosed furnace includes inherent passive features to assist in the containment of released toxic gases via a thermal gradient within the chamber. The chamber comprises longitudinally cylindrical sidewalls; a top end extending between and permanently connected to the sidewalls, thereby closing one end of the chamber; and a movable bottom end, which is opposite the top end and forms a base end of the chamber. The movable bottom end is adapted to receive the component, and comprises a mechanism for raising and lowering the component into the high temperature zone of the furnace in the HIP system. The isolation chamber forms an integral part of the HIP system with the base end of the chamber comprising a cool zone as a result of being located outside of the high temperature zone of the furnace.

La présente invention concerne une chambre d'isolation de four destinée à contenir un composant à soumettre à un pressage isostatique à chaud. Le four de l'invention comprend des éléments passifs inhérents facilitant le confinement des gaz toxiques libérés par l'intermédiaire d'un gradient thermique à l'intérieur de la chambre. La chambre comprend des parois latérales longitudinalement cylindriques; une extrémité supérieure s'étendant entre les parois latérales et reliée de manière permanente aux parois latérales, pour ainsi fermer une extrémité de la chambre; et une extrémité inférieure mobile, qui est opposée à l'extrémité supérieure et qui forme une extrémité de base de la chambre. L'extrémité inférieure mobile est conçue pour recevoir le composant et comprend un mécanisme pour monter et descendre le composant dans la zone à haute température du four dans le système HIP. La chambre d'isolation fait partie intégrante du système HIP, l'extrémité de base de la chambre comprenant une zone froide du fait de sa localisation à l'extérieur de la zone à haute température du four.
