Abstract
(EN) Disclosed is a portable electronic device comprising: a housing; a display which is a touch screen display and has first and third sides extending in a first direction and having a first length, and second and fourth sides extending substantially vertically to the first direction and having a second length shorter than the first length, wherein the ratio of the first length to the second length is x:9, and x is at least 16; a wireless communication circuit; a processor; and a memory, wherein the memory stores instructions whereby the processor, at the time of execution: displays at least one first icon of a first size in a first area lengthily extending in contact with or proximity to the second or fourth side of the display; displays at least one second icon of a second size in the first area at least in part on the basis of an event occurring within the electronic device or an event received via the wireless communication circuit; receives, via the first area of the display, a user input selecting said at least one second icon; and executes a function related to the event on the basis of the received user input. In addition, various embodiments identified through the description are possible.
