Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for finding the ranges of targets in the surroundings by measuring the time-of-flight of pulses reflected by said targets, more particularly laser pulses. Said method comprises: emitting a sequence of transmission pulses (Sp) having varying pulse-repetition intervals (τp), and receiving at least one receive pulse (Ei) after each one of two different transmission pulses; for each receive pulse (Ei): generating a group (Gi) of M candidate ranges (di, m), each range relative to a different transmission pulse (Sp) among the M transmission pulses preceding the receive pulse (Ei), wherein each candidate range (di, m) is assigned to the respective transmission pulse (Sp) to which it belongs; for each candidate range (di, m): determining a weighting value (Wi, m) at least on the basis of the closest of the candidate ranges (dj, n) assigned to such a transmission pulse (Sp) which is adjacent to the transmission pulse (Sp) to which the candidate range (di, m) being considered in this determining process is assigned; for each group (Gi): selecting the candidate range (di, m) with the highest weighting value (Wi, m) as the measured range value (di) of the receive pulse (Ei) for which the group (Gi) was generated.
