Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for testing the functional soundness of a particle sensor arranged in an exhaust train of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle. The internal combustion engine has a particle filter for trapping particles, at least in part, in the exhaust, a differential pressure sensor for detecting a differential pressure on the particle filter between a pressure upstream of the particle filter and a pressure downstream of the particle filter, and a particle sensor arranged downstream of the particle filter, which is designed to detect the particle quantity remaining in the exhaust. The method according to the invention comprises a detecting of a particle quantity in the exhaust by means of the particle sensor, a determining that the detected particle quantity is greater than a predetermined upper particle quantity threshold, a detecting of a differential pressure on the particle filter by means of the differential pressure sensor and a determining that the particle sensor is not functionally sound if the detected differential pressure is greater than a predetermined upper pressure threshold.
