Abstract:
(EN) A polyurethane composition is provided. The polyurethane composition includes a first part of a first polytetramethylene oxide, a second polytetramethylene oxide, and a castor oil based polyol. The second polytetramethylene oxide has a higher viscosity than the first polytetramethylene oxide. The polyurethane composition also includes a second part of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate. Also provided is a fiber optic cable assembly incorporating the polyurethane composition as an overmold. The overmold has a glass transition temperature of less than -40 C measured according to differential scanning calorimetry. Further provided is a method of applying an overmold to a fiber optic cable assembly.
(FR) La présente invention concerne une composition de polyuréthane. La composition de polyuréthane comprend une première partie constituée par un premier poly(oxyde de tétraméthylène), un deuxième poly(oxyde de tétraméthylène) et un polyol à base d'huile de ricin. Le deuxième poly(oxyde de tétraméthylène) présente une viscosité supérieure à celle du premier poly(oxyde de tétraméthylène). La composition de polyuréthane comprend également une deuxième partie constituée par du diisocyanate de méthylènediphényle. L'invention concerne également un ensemble câble à fibres optiques incorporant la composition de polyuréthane comme surmoulage. Le surmoulage présente une température de transition vitreuse inférieure à -40°C, mesurée selon la calorimétrie différentielle à balayage. L'invention concerne également un procédé d'application d'un surmoulage sur un ensemble câble à fibres optiques.
