Provided is an electronic device that captures an image, and that accurately recognizes characters in the image. The electronic device is provided with an imaging unit, a distance measurement unit, a shape estimation unit, and a coordinate conversion unit. The imaging unit images an object and captures image data. The distance measurement unit measures each distance from the imaging unit to a plurality of measurement points on the surface of the object. The shape estimation unit estimates the shape of the object from the measured distances. The coordinate conversion unit performs, on the image data, coordinate conversion for converting three-dimensional coordinates on the surface of the object to plane coordinates on a prescribed reference plane on the basis of the estimated shape.

L'invention concerne un dispositif électronique qui capture une image, et qui reconnaît précisément des caractères dans l'image. Le dispositif électronique est pourvu d'une unité d'imagerie, d'une unité de mesure de distance, d'une unité d'estimation de forme et d'une unité de conversion de coordonnées. L'unité d'imagerie forme une image d'un objet et capture des données d'image. L'unité de mesure de distance mesure chaque distance entre l'unité d'imagerie et une pluralité de points de mesure sur la surface de l'objet. L'unité d'estimation de forme estime la forme de l'objet à partir des distances mesurées.
