Techniques and mechanisms for enabling the positioning of a communication terminal in or on a vehicle, building or other structure. In an embodiment, the communication terminal includes an electronically steerable antenna which is disposed in a housing. A plurality of support legs, coupled to the housing, are each configured to rotate about a respective first axis, and to further rotate about a respective second axis. For a given support leg, an orientation of the respective second axis varies with rotation of that support leg about the respective first axis. Two such support legs are mechanically coupled to one another with respect to their respective first axis rotations or with respect to their respective second axis rotations. In another embodiment, the communication terminal is operable by a user to selectively enable or disable first axis rotation and/or second axis rotation of a given support leg.

La présente invention concerne des techniques et des mécanismes permettant le positionnement d'un terminal de communication dans ou sur un véhicule, un bâtiment ou une autre structure. Dans un mode de réalisation, le terminal de communication comprend une antenne électroniquement orientable qui est disposée dans un boîtier. Une pluralité de pieds de support, couplés au boîtier, sont chacun configurés pour tourner autour d'un premier axe respectif, et pour tourner en outre autour d'un deuxième axe respectif. Pour un pied de support donné, une orientation du deuxième axe respectif varie avec la rotation du pied de support en question autour du premier axe respectif. Deux de ces pieds de support sont mécaniquement couplés l'un à l'autre par rapport à leurs rotations de premier axe respectives ou par rapport à leurs rotations de deuxième axe respectives. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, le terminal de communication peut être actionné par un utilisateur pour activer ou désactiver sélectivement une rotation de premier axe et/ou une rotation de deuxième axe d'un pied de support donné.
