Abstract:
(EN) A computer system and method for improving the accuracy of predictions of the amount of renewable energy, such as solar energy and wind energy, available to an electric utility, and/or refine such predictions, by providing improved integration of meteorological forecasts. Coefficient values are calculated for a renewable energy generation model by performing a regression analysis with the forecasted level of renewable energy posted by the utility, forecasted weather conditions and measures of seasonality as explanatory variables. Accuracy is further enhanced through the inclusion of a large number of time series variables that reflect the systematic nature of the energy/weather system. The model also uses the original forecast posted by the system operator as well as variables to control for season.
(FR) L'invention concerne un système et un procédé informatique permettant d'améliorer la précision de prédictions de la quantité d'énergie renouvelable, telle que l'énergie solaire et l'énergie éolienne, disponibles pour un service électrique, et/ou d'affiner de telles prédictions, en fournissant une intégration améliorée des prévisions météorologiques. Des valeurs de coefficients sont calculées pour un modèle de génération d'énergie renouvelable en effectuant une analyse de régression avec le niveau prévu d'énergie renouvelable affiché par le réseau public, des conditions météorologiques prévues et des mesures de la saisonnalité en tant que variables explicatives. La précision est encore améliorée grâce à l'inclusion d'un grand nombre de variables de séries temporelles qui reflètent la nature systématique du système d'énergie/météorologique. Le modèle utilise également la prévision originale entrée par l'opérateur du système ainsi que des variables à contrôler selon la saison.
