A circuit breaker is referenced that has an indicator lamp that identifies a fault condition after power is interrupted to the circuit breaker. This solution uses light emitting diodes (LEDs) to indicate the trip condition. This solution does not require the power to be enabled to the load side of the circuit breaker in order to power the LEDs to display a trip condition. An overload may be detected when the fault current generates sufficient heat in a strip composed of a resistive element or bimetal to cause the bimetal to deflect and/or bend. The mechanical deflection triggers a trip assembly that includes a spring trip lever to a force a moveable contact attached to a moveable conductive blade away from a stationary contact, thereby breaking the circuit.

L'invention concerne un disjoncteur qui comprend un témoin lumineux qui identifie un état de défaillance après une coupure de l'arrivée d'énergie vers le disjoncteur. Cette solution utilise des diodes électroluminescentes (LED) pour indiquer l'état de déclenchement. Cette solution ne nécessite pas la présence de l'énergie vers le côté charge du disjoncteur pour alimenter les LED en vue de signaler un état de déclenchement. Une surcharge peut être détectée lorsque le courant de défaut génère une chaleur suffisante dans une bande composée d'un élément résistif ou d'un bilame pour amener le bilame à dévier et/ou à se courber.
