Abstract:
(EN) The subject disclosure features, in one aspect, a method for producing lipids enriched for EPA, comprising modifying a microalga to increase expression of PFA1, and/or PFA3, and culturing the modified microalga under conditions which allow the expression of PFA1, and/or PFA3, wherein lipids enriched for EPA are produced. Also featured is a recombinant microalga in which PFA1, and/or PFA3, is overexpressed. Such recombinant microalgae have been demonstrated herein to produce very favorable fatty acid lipid profiles (e.g., increased levels of EPA, increased ratio of EPA:DHA, decreased levels of DPA n-6, etc.).
(FR) Dans un aspect, l'invention concerne un procédé de production de lipides enrichis en EPA, consistant à modifier une micro-algue afin d'augmenter l'expression de PFA1 et/ou de PFA3, et à cultiver la micro-algue modifiée, dans des conditions permettant l'expression de PFA1 et/ou de PFA3, des lipides enrichis en EPA étant produits. L'invention concerne également une micro-algue recombinée dans laquelle PFA1 et/ou PFA3 sont/est surexprimée(s). La présente invention a démontré que ces micro-algues recombinées produisaient des profils lipidiques d'acides gras très favorables (par exemple, des niveaux accrus d'EPA, un rapport accru EPA:DHA, des niveaux réduits de DPA n-6, etc.).
