Abstract
(EN) Disclosed is a novel method of controlling the formation of biuret in urea production, and particularly reducing, preventing or reversing such formation. This is accomplished by adding liquid ammonia to a urea aqueous stream. This addition is done at one or more positions downstream of a recovery section in a urea plant. The addition of liquid ammonia serves to shift the equilibrium of biuret formation from urea, to the side of the formation of urea from biuret and ammonia. The invention can be accomplished also in pre-existing urea plant, by the simple measure of providing an appropriate inlet for liquid ammonia, in fluid communication with a source of such liquid ammonia.
(FR) L'invention concerne un nouveau procédé de régulation de la formation de biuret dans la production d'urée, et en particulier la réduction, la prévention ou l'inversion de cette formation. Ceci est accompli en ajoutant de l'ammoniac liquide à un flux aqueux d'urée. Cet ajout est réalisé en une ou plusieurs positions en aval d'une section de récupération dans une installation d'urée. L'ajout d'ammoniac liquide sert à déplacer l'équilibre de la formation de biuret à partir de l'urée, vers le côté de la formation d'urée à partir de biuret et de l'ammoniac. L'invention peut également être mise en œuvre dans une installation d'urée préexistante, par le simple fait de fournir une entrée appropriée pour l'ammoniac liquide, en communication fluidique avec une source d'ammoniac liquide de ce type.
