Abstract:
[Problem] To propose a production method by which an electrode is able to be formed on a specific part of the surface of a sintered ceramic element by a simple technique. [Solution] A method for producing a ceramic electronic component according to the present invention comprises: a step for preparing a sintered ceramic element 10 that contains a metal oxide; a step for forming a low-resistance part 43 which is obtained by decreasing the resistance of a part of the ceramic element 10 by irradiating an electrode formation region of the surface of the ceramic element 10 with laser L; a step for selectively adhering a catalyst metal 46 onto the low-resistance part 43 by immersing the ceramic element, which has been provided with the low-resistance part 43, in a catalyst metal substitution solution; and a step for forming a plating layer 45, which is to function as an electrode, on the low-resistance part 43 by subjecting the ceramic element 10, to which the catalyst metal 46 adheres, to electroless plating.
