A processing apparatus (3) is configured to determine one or more nearby D2D communication pairs (2B, 2C) existing near a first D2D communication pair (2A). The processing apparatus (3) is further configured to estimate the transmission rate of a first D2D transmission (101A) performed by the first D2D communication pair (2A) in consideration of the influence of D2D transmission (101B, 101C) performed by the one or more nearby D2D communication pairs (2B, 2C). In this way, an improvement to the transmission rate estimation of device-to-device (D2D) transmissions can be provided, for example.
