Abstract:
(EN) Discrete, individualized carbon nanotubes having targeted, or selective, oxidation levels and/or content on the interior and exterior of the tube walls are claimed. Such carbon nanotubes can have little to no inner tube surface oxidation, or differing amounts and/or types of oxidation between the tubes' inner and outer surfaces. These new discrete carbon nanotubes are useful in plasticizers, which can then be used as an additive in compounding and formulation of elastomeric, thermoplastic and thermoset composite for improvement of mechanical, electrical and thermal properties.
(FR) Cette invention concerne des nanotubes de carbone individualisés, discrets ayant des états et/ou une teneur d'oxydation à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur des parois de tubes ciblés, ou sélectifs. Ces nanotubes de carbone peuvent présenter peu ou aucune oxydation sur la surface interne des tubes, ou des quantités et/ou des types d'oxydation différents entre les surfaces interne et externe des tubes. Ces nouveaux nanotubes de carbone discrets sont utiles dans des plastifiants, qui peuvent ensuite être utilisés comme additif dans le compoundage et la formulation d'un composite élastomère, thermoplastique et thermodurci pour l'amélioration des propriétés mécaniques, électriques et thermiques.
