Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a general purpose optical measuring device and method which enable, at least, measurement of an amount of nucleic acid amplification, detection or quantitative measurement by means of nucleic acid detection, an immunoassay or an enzymatic method, or measurement of concentration or light absorbency. This general purpose optical measuring device is provided with: a photometric content designating unit; a light radiating and receiving pair comprising a radiating end capable of radiating measurement light and a light receiving end capable of receiving light from the radiating end; a photometry container which is capable of accommodating a chemical substance solution to be measured, and which has a bottom portion in which a translucent region is formed; a nozzle which communicates with a gas suction and discharge mechanism; a flow tube of which a lower end can be inserted into the photometry container and to an upper end of which the nozzle is fitted; a light measuring unit; and a control unit which causes the chemical substance solution to be sucked into and held in the flow tube to which the nozzle is fitted, or to be accommodated in the photometry container, and derives a physicochemical property or value of the chemical substance solution on the basis of the intensity of light received by the light receiving end. One element of the light radiating and receiving pair is provided in the nozzle or in the suction and discharge mechanism, and the other element thereof is configured in such a way that an upper side thereof is disposed in the translucent region.
