Abstract:
In the present invention, an input image information generation processing unit 21 generates depth distribution characteristic information on the basis of the pixel value and depth value of pixels within a peripheral region with respect to target pixels in an input image. A past image information generation processing unit 24 generates depth distribution characteristic information on the basis of the pixel value of the target pixels and the pixel value and the depth value of pixels within a past image peripheral region with respect to corresponding pixels, the corresponding pixels being the pixel position of the target pixels in a past image, which is an image that is older than the input image. A synthesis control unit 25 sets a synthesis ratio in accordance with the amount of pixel-information difference between the target pixels and the corresponding pixels. A depth value setting unit 26 uses the synthesis ratio set by the synthesis control unit 25 to synthesize the depth distribution characteristic information generated by the input image information generation processing unit 21 and the past image information generation processing unit 24, and the depth value setting unit uses the depth representative value calculated from the synthesis depth distribution characteristic information as the target pixel depth value. The present invention enables the stability of the temporal and spatial directions of a depth image to be improved.
