Provided are a photoelectric conversion element that uses a perovskite compound as a light absorber and exhibits little variation in moisture resistance; a solar cell that uses this photoelectric conversion element; a method for manufacturing a photoelectric conversion element; a surface treatment agent; a surface treatment composition; and a surface treatment fluid. The photoelectric conversion element has, in the indicated sequence, a first electrode having a light absorber-containing photosensitive layer on an electroconductive support; a compound layer containing a surface treatment agent and disposed on the surface of the photosensitive layer; and a second electrode. The light absorber contains a compound having a perovskite crystalline structure that has a cation of a Periodic Table group 1 element or a cationic organic group A, a cation of a metal atom M other than a Periodic Table group 1 element, and an anionic atom or an anion of an atomic group X. The surface treatment agent has a silyl group.
