A distance measuring device 100 is provided with: a prism 34 that rotates about a rotation axis 70; a spherical pedestal section 43 having a spherical convex surface 63 as at least a part thereof; a light source supporting section 44 disposed such that the light source supporting section slides on the convex surface 63 of the spherical pedestal section 43; a light source 40; and a collimator lens 41. A center position Pc of the convex surface 63 is on a reflecting surface 51 which the rotating axis 70 intersects, said reflecting surface 51 being a part of the prism 34, and the light source supporting section 44 moves with the center position Pc at the center. Even in the cases where the light source supporting section 44 is slid on the convex surface 63 of the spherical pedestal section 43, the optical axis of projection light L1 is incident at a reflecting surface 51 point where the reflecting surface intersects the rotating axis 70.
