The present invention refers to a piston ring (1) and a method for depositing a multi-layer coating (5) with a nanolayer structure able to guarantee a variable thickness of the coating (5) of the peripheral surface (2) of the piston ring (1), such that a region of the immediate vicinity of the butt ends (31, 32) of an opening (3) of the ring (1) includes a layer of coating (5) that is thicker than the layer of coating of the region opposite the immediate vicinity of the butt ends (31, 32) of the ring (1), thereby providing a piston ring (1) with high durability due to the excellent strength and increased thickness in the region of the ring subject to greatest wear.

La présente invention concerne un segment de piston (1) et un procédé de dépôt d'un revêtement multicouche (5) avec une structure de nanocouche apte à garantir une épaisseur variable du revêtement (5) de la surface périphérique (2) du segment de piston (1), de telle sorte qu'une région du voisinage immédiat des extrémités d'about (31, 32) d'une ouverture (3) du segment (1) comprenne une couche de revêtement (5) qui est plus épaisse que la couche de revêtement de la région opposée au voisinage immédiat des extrémités d'aboutement (31, 32) du segment (1), ce qui permet d'obtenir un segment de piston (1) présentant une durabilité élevée en raison de l'excellente résistance et de l'épaisseur accrue dans la région du segment soumise à l'usure la plus importante.
