Abstract:
(EN) Aspects of the disclosure relate to arranging a pickup between a driverless vehicle and a passenger. For instance, dispatch instructions dispatching the vehicle to a predetermined pickup area in order to pick up the passenger are received by the vehicle which begins maneuvering to the predetermined pickup area. While doing so, the vehicle receives from the passenger' s client computing device the device's location. An indication that the passenger is interested in a fly-by pickup is identified. The fly-by pickup allows the passenger to safely enter the vehicle at a location outside of the predetermined pickup area and prior to the one or more processors have maneuvered the vehicle to the predetermined pickup area. The vehicle determines that the fly-by pickup is appropriate based on at least the location of the client computing device and the indication, and based on the determination, maneuvers itself in order to attempt the fly-by pickup.
(FR) Selon certains aspects, cette invention concerne la programmation d'une prise en charge entre un véhicule sans conducteur et un passager. Par exemple, des instructions d'expédition expédiant le véhicule vers une zone de prise en charge prédéterminée afin de prendre en charge le passager sont reçues par le véhicule qui commence à manœuvrer vers la zone de prise en charge prédéterminée. Ainsi, le véhicule reçoit, à partir du dispositif informatique client du passager, l'emplacement du dispositif. Une indication selon laquelle le passager est intéressé par une prise en charge en cours de route est identifiée. La prise en charge en cours de route permet au passager de pénétrer en toute sécurité dans le véhicule à un emplacement situé à l'extérieur de la zone de prise en charge prédéterminée et avant que ledit/lesdits processeurs n'aient manœuvré le véhicule vers la zone de prise en charge prédéterminée. Le véhicule détermine que la prise en charge en cours de route est appropriée sur la base au moins de l'emplacement du dispositif informatique client et de l'indication, et sur la base de la détermination, il effectue ses propres manœuvres afin de tenter la prise en charge en cours de route.
