Abstract:
(EN) A system that measures the temperature distribution of the reactor coolant flowing through the hot leg or cold leg pipes by measuring the speed of sound time delay. This concept uses radiation hardened and temperature tolerant ultrasonic signal drivers based on vacuum micro-electronic technology. The system employs ultrasonic signals propagated through water, and relies on the characteristic that the speed of sound changes as the density and temperature of the water changes. Thus, a measured difference in the speed of sound in water may be directly correlated to a temperature change of the water.
(FR) L'invention concerne un système qui mesure la distribution de la température du liquide de refroidissement de réacteur circulant à travers les tuyaux de branche chaude ou de branche froide en mesurant le retard temporelle de vitesse du son. Ce concept utilise des pilotes de signaux ultrasonores durcis par rayonnement et résistant à la température, basés sur une technologie micro-électronique sous vide. Le système utilise des signaux ultrasonores propagés à travers de l'eau, et repose sur la caractéristique selon laquelle la vitesse du son change à mesure que la densité et de la température de l'eau change. Ainsi, une différence mesurée de la vitesse du son dans l'eau peut être directement corrélée à un changement de température de l'eau.
