Abstract:
This method for producing a polymer electrolyte membrane electrode assembly comprises: a catalyst composition application step (step S12) wherein a catalyst composition containing a catalyst composition and a dispersion medium is applied to the both surfaces of a polymer electrolyte membrane; and an electrode catalyst layer formation step (step S13) wherein electrode catalyst layers are formed on the both surfaces of the polymer electrolyte membrane by removing the dispersion medium from the catalyst composition applied to the polymer electrolyte membrane. The surface tension of the catalyst composition is smaller than the critical surface tension of the polymer electrolyte membrane.
