Abstract:
Provided are an apparatus and a method for performing false color corrections according to the image characteristics of image area units in a color image. An image processing apparatus comprises an image processing unit that receives a color image and a white (W) image captured by a W-arrangement imager element all pixels of which are arranged in a white (W) pixel arrangement and that executes an image processing for reducing false colors included in the color image. The image processing unit comprises: a frequency-associated parameter calculation unit that receives the white (W) image and calculates a frequency-associated parameter of each image area unit; a misalignment-associated parameter calculation unit that receives the white (W) image and the color image and calculates a misalignment-associated parameter of each image area unit in the two received images; and an image correction unit that calculates a correction pixel value by executing a blend processing in which a blend ratio of the white (W) image and the color image is controlled in accordance with the values of the frequency-associated and misalignment-associated parameters.
