Provided is an engine with which it is possible to suppress a drop in output even if a certain level of dust has accumulated in a cooling air intake screen, while minimizing any drops in the quantity of cooling air taken in. In order to do so, this engine (1) is configured to comprise a radiator (9) having a cooling air intake (921), a cooling air intake duct (12) provided on the intake side of the cooling air intake (921), and a cooling air intake screen (15) provided on the intake side of the cooling air intake duct (12), wherein the cooling air intake duct (12) has a cylindrical part (122) and a ribbed part (123), and the cooling air intake screen (15) has an outer frame (152) positioned so as to protrude towards the reverse side to the cylindrical part along the ribbed part (123), an opening (155) formed by the edge on the outer frame (152) on the reverse side from the cylindrical part (122), and that is larger than the opening surface area on the cooling air intake screen (15) side of the cylindrical part (122), and an air filter (154) positioned at a distance from the ribbed part (123) so as to cover the opening (155).
