Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the size of a robot arm mechanism. This direct-acting extension/retraction mechanism is provided with: a plurality of first segments 23 which are coupled so as to be capable of bending; a plurality of second segments 24 which are coupled so as to be capable of bending; and a plurality of rollers 59 which join the first segments 23 to the second segments 24 to form a columnar arm part 5, and which support the arm part 5 such that the arm part can be moved back and forth. A drive gear 56 for dispatching the first and second segments forwards from the plurality of rollers, and returning the first and second segments to the plurality of rollers is disposed to the rear of the plurality of rollers 59. The drive gear engages with linear gears 531 on the rear surfaces of the plurality of first segments. The drive gear is connected to a motor unit 41 via a motive power transmission mechanism. The motive power transmission mechanism is provided with a pair of bevel gears 43, 44. One of the pair of bevel gears is connected to an output shaft 42 of the motor unit. The other of the pair of bevel gears is connected to a rotational shaft 45 of the drive gear.
