Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an organic electroluminescent element wherein occurrence of failures, such as local abnormal light emission and a current leakage, are suppressed. [Solution] An organic electroluminescent element of the present invention is provided with: a recessed structure, wherein a first electrode is provided at a bottom portion, and a first member is used as side walls; a second electrode covering the whole surfaces of the recessed structure; and an organic light emitting layer, which contains a deposited material, and which is sandwiched between the second electrode and the recessed structure. The film thickness of a leaking-material-containing layer in the organic light emitting layer is nonuniform at the bottom portion of the recessed structure, and the film thickness of the whole organic light emitting layer is substantially nonuniform at the bottom portion of the recessed structure.
