Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem that when an engine is automatically stopped and the vehicle is coasting in a state in which a power transmission path between the engine and the wheels is interrupted, if, when a deceleration request is generated, the power transmission path is engaged and the engine is restarted, drivability is reduced because the deceleration increases above the deceleration requested by the driver and the vehicle. This vehicle control device has a deceleration control unit such that when there is a deceleration request in a state in which a power transmission path present between an engine and wheels while the vehicle is traveling and said traveling continues, if the engine is started by engaging the power transmission path, the deceleration control unit controls the deceleration of the vehicle so as to reach a target deceleration obtained from a first target deceleration generated at the end of said engaging of the power transmission path and a second target deceleration generated in accordance with the deceleration request.
