Title: MONITORING PERFORMANCE OF A NETWORK SERVICE IMPLEMENTED BY COMPUTE NODES IN A NETWORK FUNCTION VIRTUALIZATION NETWORK ARCHITECTURE
Abstract:
Monitoring performance of compute nodes that implement a network service in a network function virtualization network architecture is disclosed. A computing device receives a query that requests aggregate performance information associated with a network service. A forwarding graph is received that identifies a sequence of a plurality of virtual network functions (VNFs) that implement the network service on packets communicated between an ingress compute node and an egress compute node, and identifies a plurality of compute nodes that implement the plurality of VNFs. The forwarding graph is traversed to identify the sequence of the plurality of VNFs and a correlation between the plurality of VNFs and the plurality of compute nodes. A performance metric store is queried to obtain performance metrics relating to each of the plurality of compute nodes. The performance metrics are aggregated into the aggregate performance information. A message is communicated that includes the aggregate performance information.
