Abstract:
The invention relates to a release device (100) for an electro-mechanical protective switchgear (1), in particular for a circuit breaker or a power switch, comprising a short circuit release device, which is designed to act directly on a switch mechanism of the protective switchgear (1) in the event of a short circuit current occurring above a first release threshold, in order to release same. The release device also comprises an overload release device which is designed to act on the short circuit release device in the event of an overload state, in order to thereby indirectly release the switch mechanism. The short circuit release device is constructionally configured in such a way that it acts directly on a switch mechanism of the protective switchgear (1) in the event of an electrical current occurring having a current strength exceeds the first release threshold, e.g. in the event of a short circuit current, in order to release same and to thereby interrupt the current flow. In contrast, the overload release device is constructionally configured in such a way that it does not act directly on the switch mechanism, but rather acts indirectly via the short circuit release device. In this way, it is possible to integrate the functionality of the overload release device into the already existing short circuit release device, whereby a compact release device can be created which is particularly advantageous for compact rail-mounted devices.
