Title: LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND ELECTRONIC APPARATUS
Abstract:
A liquid crystal display and electronic apparatus. When in a display mode, a control unit applies voltages to every sub-electrode (070) and a first transparent electrode (06) to produce an electric field which enables liquid crystal molecules in a liquid crystal layer (04) and corresponding to electrode units (07) to rotate and form a microprism structure (10), and controls the sizes of the voltages applied to every sub-electrode (070) of the electrode units (07) so as to control the microprism structure (10), and in turn, control the light rays emitted by a backlight (01) and refracted by the microprism structure (10) to form an energy distribution of light rays in a predefined visible range, thereby controlling the brightness of the light entering the predefined visible range by controlling the microprism structure (10), and implementing a grayscale display. Moreover, since the shapes of the sub-electrodes are either curved or bent, the microprism structure (10) has a plurality of different refraction directions, and consequently, the light rays can exit from the microprism structure (10) from a plurality of angles, thereby increasing a visible range of a liquid crystal display, and implementing a wide-angle display.
