Abstract:
(EN) A feeding tube position confirmation device (102), operable to confirm the position of a predetermined portion of a medical feeding tube in a predetermined portion of a human or animal body, the position confirmation device comprising an optical waveguide (106) dimensioned to be insertable into the lumen of the feeding tube, the optical waveguide having a sensing distal end (108) comprising a distal end material and a sensing material mixed with the distal end material, the sensing material operable to provide a change in optical properties at the distal end (110) of the optical waveguide dependent on the environment to which the sensing distal end (108) of the waveguide is exposed. The sensing material may comprise a reflective material. Methods of manufacture and use of such devices are also described.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un dispositif de confirmation de position de sonde d'alimentation (102), servant à confirmer la position d'une partie prédéterminée d'une sonde d'alimentation médicale dans une partie prédéterminée d'un corps humain ou animal, le dispositif de confirmation de position comprenant un guide d'ondes optiques (106) dimensionné de manière à pouvoir être introduit dans la lumière de la sonde d'alimentation, le guide d'ondes optiques présentant une extrémité distale de détection (108) comprenant un matériau d'extrémité distale et un matériau de détection mélangé au matériau d'extrémité distale, le matériau de détection pouvant fonctionner de manière à fournir un changement de propriétés optiques au niveau de l'extrémité distale (110) du guide d'ondes optiques selon l'environnement auquel est exposée l'extrémité distale de détection (108) du guide d'ondes. Le matériau de détection peut comprendre un matériau réfléchissant. Des procédés de fabrication et d'utilisation de ces dispositifs sont également décrits.
