Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to a process of treating an implant, comprising a step of treating the surface of the implant with at least one phosphonic acid compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or amide thereof under sonication at a temperature of about 50°C to about 90°C. This process is highly advantageous in that it allows the formation of a monolayer of the phosphonic acid compound on the implant surface, having a particularly dense surface coverage which, in turn, results in an improved implant biocompatibility and improved osseointegration. The invention further relates to a surface-treated implant obtainable by this process and, in particular, it provides an implant having a surface made of a metal, a metal alloy or a ceramic, wherein a phosphonic acid compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or amide thereof is bound to the surface of the implant and forms a monolayer having an implant surface coverage, in terms of the ratio of the phosphorus content to the metal content as determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), of at least 70% of a reference maximum surface coverage.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'un implant, comprenant une étape de traitement de la surface de l'implant avec au moins un composé d'acide phosphonique ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable, un ester ou un amide de celui-ci sous sonication à une température d'environ 50 °C à environ 90 °C. Ce procédé est très avantageux en ce qu'il permet la formation d'une monocouche du composé d'acide phosphonique sur la surface de l'implant, ayant une couverture de surface particulièrement dense qui, à son tour, conduit à une meilleure biocompatibilité de l’implant et une ostéo-intégration améliorée. L'invention concerne en outre un implant traité en surface pouvant être obtenu par ce procédé et, en particulier, concerne un implant comportant une surface constituée d'un métal, d’un alliage métallique ou d’une céramique, un composé d'acide phosphonique ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable, un ester ou un amide de celui-ci étant lié à la surface de l'implant et formant une monocouche ayant une couverture de surface d'implant, en termes de rapport de la teneur en phosphore à la teneur en métal tel que déterminé par spectroscopie photoélectronique à rayons X (XPS), d'au moins 70 % d'une couverture de surface maximale de référence.
