Abstract:
(EN) A medical device includes an elongated sleeve having a longitudinal axis, a proximal end and a distal end. A cutting member having sharp edges formed from a wear-resistant ceramic material is carried at the distal end of the elongated sleeve. A motor drive is coupled to the proximal end of the elongated sleeve to rotate the sleeve at cutting member at high speed to cut bone and other hard tissue. An electrode is carried in a surface portion of ceramic cutting member for cautery or radiofrequency ablation of tissue when the sleeve and cutting member are is a stationary position.
(FR) Dispositif médical comprenant un manchon allongé ayant un axe longitudinal, une extrémité proximale et une extrémité distale. Un élément coupant possédant des bords tranchants constitué d'un matériau céramique résistant à l'usure est supporté au niveau de l'extrémité distale du manchon allongé. Un moteur d'entraînement est accouplé à l'extrémité proximale du manchon allongé pour faire tourner le manchon au niveau de l'élément coupant à vitesse élevée pour couper l'os et d'autres tissus durs. Une électrode est supportée dans une partie distale d'un élément coupant en céramique pour la cautérisation ou l'ablation de tissu par radiofréquence lorsque le manchon et l'élément coupant sont dans une position fixe.
